Extreme Environments and Materials Lab

Our research focuses on improving the safety and resilience of communities due to fires and other hazardous events.

We explore the

     – environment produced by hazards,

     – impact of that environment on materials and systems,

     – development of sensing/diagnostics to quantify the behavior, and

     – creation of technology for improved performance in field applications.

Researchers use a wide range of experimental and computational techniques to advance our knowledge about systems in extreme environments and create machine learning models to provide computationally efficient methods for predicting system behavior.
