GenIDLEST : Generalized Incompressible Direct and Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulence

GenIDLEST is general purpose computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer software developed and used in the HPCFD lab. It uses a structured body-fitted multi-block grid topology at its core with Immersed Boundary capability. It is parallelized with MPI, OpenMP and CUDA-Fortran for distributed, shared, and  GPU architectures. It uses scalable linear systems solvers based on Krylov methods with multi-level additive/multiplicative Schwarz preconditioners. The software has available different discretizations and choice of boundary conditions. The main elements of the software are summarized below.

  • RANS, URANS, LES, DNS and hybrid LES-URANS or DES turbulence models.
  • Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method for moving dynamic meshes
  • Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) with conjugate heat transfer
  • Fluid-Structure interaction (FSI) with non-linear deformation.
  • Discrete-element method (DEM) capability for dense particle systems.
  • Solid blockages in flow with conjugate heat transfer
  • Physics based sand/ash impact and deposition models
