The Competitions

Overview

AAVT will compete in one aerial vehicle competition held from July 20-24, 2009 at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez . The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems (AUVSI) sponsors the competition: the International Aerial Robotics Competition.

International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC)

The IARC requires that the vehicle must compete fully autonomously (no human interaction at all). The competition takes place inside a building where the aerial vehicle must enter through a window and navigate through hallways, around obstacles, and into rooms in search of a control panel. To complete the mission, the vehicle must find the specified control panel and identify a target gauge on the panel that has a non-blinking blue LED directly below it.
