What We Do

The Modal Analysis Laboratory specializes in research relating to the characterization of dynamic properties of structures.

Research

Modal analysis labThe Modal Lab has developed transduction techniques for use in high strain rate testing where frequency response requirements exceed 1 MHz to measuring impact accelerations on golf clubs. In addition, techniques in data visualization, and characterization of visco-elastic materials are topics of research by faculty associated with this laboratory.

Facilities

The fully equipped lab has a complete array of transducers including a scanning laser system for obtaining structural response information. Numerous data acquisition systems are available to acquire and process the measured data. A 10 ft square isolation bed is available for securing test objects as well as an overhead crane for placing heavy components.
