Shipboard Autonomous Firefighting Robot (SAFFiR)

The focus of this research program is to develop a humanoid robot that can assist in daily and damage control operations onboard ships. Our role in this research is to

  • Develop a vision system to image through smoke for navigation and fire location
  • Formulate a method for autonomous location of fire outside the robot FOV
  • Autonomous fire suppression
  • Implement developed systems onto a humanoid robot
