His researches focus on the terramechanics, vehicle dynamics, and on the treatment of uncertainties in multi-body dynamics. He is also interested in numerical modeling and simulation on chaotic system. He has published nine conference papers (ASME IMECE 2005, ASME IMECE 2006, ASME IDETC 2007, SAE Commercial Vehicle 2005&2007, SAE World Congress 2007&2008, and ISTVS 2007&2008), and three journal papers in SAE Transaction Journal 2005&2007 and Journal of Terramechanics. Three more journal papers are pending with Journal of Terramechanics. Dr. Li got his B.S and M.S from Jiangsu University, China, and worked for Chinese automotive industry more than one year before he came to Virginia Tech in 2004.
