Chris Boggs

Graduate Student

IALR, Danville

chris.boggs@vt.edu

Chris is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2002. After working with Dr. Ahmadian as an undergraduate researcher, Chris decided to continue my studies with him in the Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Lab. For his master's thesis, he studied the correlation between physical measurements and driver fatigue and MS in Mechanical Engineering.

After receiving his MS in 2004, Chris decided to pursue his PhD. He then became involved in developing the new VIPER lab and 8-post rig in Danville. Chris also was the instructor for the VT Formula SAE team in 2005-2006. After working on this project as a graduate assistant, he took a 1-year break from his PhD studies to work for VIPER full-time to get the lab operational.

Chris is now working on research to develop a method to predict the change in response of a race car on the 8-post rig, when changing shock absorbers. This will give VIPER a useful tool to improve their testing and analysis methods and ultimately give the customers more data that will help them be competitive on the race track.
