Emmanuel Blanchard

Emmanuel joined the Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory in the Fall of 2001 and completed his master's degree under Dr. Ahmadian's supervision in June 2003. After working as a systems/controls engineer for Cummins, Inc. in Indiana for three years, he finally came back to Virginia Tech in 2006 to pursue a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. Emmanuel is working for CVeSS under the supervision of Dr. Corina Sandu, and for the Computational Science Laboratory (in the Computer Science Dept.) under the supervision of Dr. Adrian Sandu. His research interests are in the areas of vibrations of mechanical systems, control of dynamic systems, and numerical analysis. He is currently working on the characterization of mechanical systems with uncertain parameters. Before joining AVDL in 2001, Emmanuel worked for CIMSS at Virginia Tech, for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego and for the Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto. He loves snowboarding, playing the piano, trying new activities, and traveling. Australia and New Zealand are his favorite places.
