The Vehicle Terrain Performance Laboratory will move to the Research Building directly adjacent to the IALR in the winter of 2007. This new facility will have 2000 sq. ft. of dedicated vehicle research space including a vehicle hoist and vehicle exhaust ports. The equipment available in the lab includes a scanning laser capable of measuring nearly 1 million coordinates per second, a state-of-the-art multi-channel data acquisition, and an Inertial Navigation System (INS) composed of differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) and a closely-coupled Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
