The Performance Engineering Research Laboratory is located at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in Danville, VA. The PERL facility contains state-of-the-art equipment that enables advanced research in control system development such as active and semi-active suspensions, and dynamic testing and optimization of a variety of passive systems. The Virginia Institute for Performance Engineering and Research laboratory has over 4000 sq. ft. of laboratory space located adjacent to the Virginia International Raceway. In addition to providing convenient access to the VIR track, the VIPER facility also has access to the Langley Full Scale Wind Tunnel, which is currently being upfitted with a rolling road capability.
