Dr. Corina Sandu
Director AVDL
The Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Lab (AVDL) at Virginia Tech was established in 1995 by Dr. Mehdi Ahmadian, professor in mechanical engineering. The lab has already obtained more than two million dollars of funded research in the areas of vehicle dynamics and control. Several other faculty members in the College of Engineering bring their expertise to the AVDL as well. Currently, the lab is served by several visiting scholars, graduate research assistants, and undergraduate students. Dr. Corina Sandu became the director of AVDL in 2004. The lab is now part of the Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety (CVeSS).
The Advanced Vehicle Dynamics lab exists to:
Our testing and modeling capabilities and more than forty years of collective expertise of our staff enables us to analyze dynamic, noise and vibration problems, and provide the most innovative and cost-effective solutions to our sponsors.
Our university affiliation provides access to a large range of expertise to solve multi-disciplinary and complex problems for the industry. In most cases, our services are a far more cost-effective alternative to in-house or private laboratories. The industrial experience of our staff provides us with the capability to offer practical solutions.
Our sponsors have been able to implement these solutions in their existing or future products for productivity, and design improvements, as well as feasibility assessment of new technologies.
