About Us

HelmetMission Statement, ASME International:

To promote and enhance the technical competency and professional well-being of our members, and through quality programs and activities in mechanical engineering, better enable its practitioners to contribute to the well-being of humankind.

Message from VT ASME Chair:

The Virginia Tech chapter of ASME is consistently one of the most active student chapters in the country. Getting involved with ASME provides an excellent opportunity to interact with fellow mechanical engineering students, faculty members, senior section members, and engineers working in industry. We are involved in a variety of activities that offer many benefits for our students.

Company representatives come to campus to present Lunch and Learns lectures and recruit our students. We take tours around campus to learn about research in the department as well as company tours of several businesses in Virginia and surrounding areas. Each year, we attend the regional and national ASME conferences and leadership workshops. The regional conference allows students to participate in design contests, oral presentations, and poster competitions. Our social events include dinner at PKs, rock climbing, annual senior picnic, potluck dinners, end of the semester celebrations, and other activities that the chapter wants. The mechanical Hokie Bird signs that we build each week for the home football games are a crowd favorite.

Our meetings are every Wednesday at 5:30 in Randolph 120 and everyone is welcome. Hope to see you there!
